Drama & Music
Music & Drama Department
All students in Years 8, 9 and 10 follow a compulsory foundation course in Music and Drama. Pupils are provided with the opportunity to experience Music and Drama in its many forms. It is through these hands on practical subjects that pupils can grow in confidence and research has shown that a school that fosters a love of Music and Drama contributes in a positive way to the overall ethos of the school.
The school is also fortunate to have the services of a peripatetic violin teacher and we are always pleased to facilitate parents who request individual provision in Music or Drama provision.
The school also offers PERFORMING ARTS as a G.C.S.E. and this has proved to be a hugely popular and successful option. At present we have over 60 pupils studying this subject.
The school also produces an annual school show where nobody is turned away and casts of up to one hundred children are not uncommon. Our all inclusive policy has been a tremendous success and in the last two years there have been highly successful productions of "The Wizard of Oz” and "Pocahontas”.
The Performing Arts centre in St. Benedict’s College is a vibrant, pupil led, contextual learning arena where children can grow in stature and confidence.
