Roald Dahl Day - 13th September Dahl

September 13th is officially Roald Dahl Day across the world in honour of Roald Dahl’s birthday. It is a great chance to read Roald Dahl books and dahl12to celebrate a wonderful children’s author.

The school library celebrated Roald Dahl Day with displays and a library quiz. The winner of the quiz was Sean Fegan class 8H.

European Day of Languages – 26th September

The European Day of Languages is held annually on the 26th September to celebrate language and cultural diversity.

The European Day of Languages aims:

· To alert the public to the importance of language learning

· To increase awareness and appreciation of all languages

· To encourage lifelong language learning.

World Animal Day – 4th October


World Animal Day is celebrated each year on 4th October. On this day, animal life is celebrated, and special events are planned all over the world. animal day

4th October was chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment.

National Poetry Day – Thursday 9th October

poetryNational Poetry Day is an annual UK-wide celebration of poetry organised by the Poetry Society. On Thursday 9th October 2008 the English Department used the library to participate in events for National Poetry Day. Pupils in Years 8 and 9 produced individual poems based on the theme of 'Work'.

Halloween Display

A display was created in the library for Halloween and included a selection of books containing ghost and horror stories by authors such as Darren Shan, Anthony Masters and Anthony Horowitz.
